Artist Notes: I first imagined this as a simple form with hands, then started adding layers. The back layer is acrylic paint over gold leaf. It looks a bit like copper. The effect is subtle, but it glows quietly as do our deepest thoughts. It also changes depending on the light in the room. The middle layer, a square, provides detail to the eyes and mouth. The front surface with all its texture presents the facade that disguises the depths of our thoughts.
