Suzyn Gunther doesn’t just make jewelry, she creates wearable art!  Working from her home studio in Georgetown Texas, she employs a somewhat non-traditional approach to the creative process. Her designs, while sometimes planned, often evolve on the fly with stones serving as the catalyst for her visions. Each piece is meticulously crafted from concept to completion, showcasing her commitment to unique, handcrafted artistry.  She is able to seamlessly blend metals and stones into stunning works that beg to be noticed, no matter how they’re worn.

“I lovingly refer to my studio as ‘Creative Chaos’. My creative ‘voices’ have me trying all different types of projects.” – Suzyn Gunther

Born and raised in Chicago, Suzyn’s creative journey was deeply influenced by her family’s passion for art, with a sculptor mother, a jewelry-making dentist father, and a sister who experimented with pottery. Her artistic roots trace back to her childhood, where she spent hours doodling intricate patterns, unknowingly pioneering her own way into what we now recognize as Zentangle.

Her discovery of jewelry-making began in the 1980s and initially involved crafting beaded pieces, but it was in 2003 that she discovered the enchanting world of precious metal clay. Intrigued by the medium, Suzyn began infusing her work with hand-drawn designs, developing the skill to transform each piece into a unique expression of her artistic vision.

In 2019, Suzyn embarked on a self-taught journey into traditional metalsmithing, seamlessly integrating it into her precious metal clay creations. Describing herself as a “jewelry artist”, Suzyn’s focus remains on form and texture, predominantly utilizing Argentium Silver for her designs. More recently, she has ventured into mixed metals, incorporating Nu-Gold (bronze) and copper, embracing the warmth of these base metals.

Suzyn’s willingness to explore new techniques and skills ensures that her body of work remains dynamic and fluid. Her artistic mantra, “Get your unique on”, encapsulates the spirit of her creations. The constant challenge to create something distinct and unparalleled is what fuels Suzyn’s daily artistic pursuits.
