Artist Notes:

"Home" is a series of artworks that explores the essence of 'shelter' amidst the chaotic currents of our world. Through hints at the familiar silhouette of childhood houses, each piece becomes a sanctuary of memory and emotion, resonating with the texture of lived experience.
Veiled behind layers of translucency, these homes beckon viewers to intuitively grasp their form, inviting them to peer beyond the surface and into the depths of their own recollections. Within these layers lies a sense of place, a resonance of belonging that transcends physical boundaries and cultural divides.
Acknowledging the diverse need for shelter, encompassing both physical and emotional aspects, each suggested shape speaks to the universality of this basic human need, while leaving space for individual interpretation and personal narrative.
Yet, amidst the complexity of our human journey, an unexpected twist emerges: a hidden word of hope. The knowledge of this hidden content serves as a silent yet powerful reminder of resilience amid adversity, offering moments of reflection in a world often lacking certainty.
The paintings of the series "Home" invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted nature of a structure – as a physical space, an emotional refuge, and a symbol of belonging – and to uncover within its ethereal contours the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
I am an intuitive artist. I am a mark maker first and I let the marks lead me to what will be created. In the first in this series of twelve paintings the roofline triangle image appeared in repetition along with the square beneath and the symbolic house shape that the series is based on was born.
These paintings were created with the first layer being a one-of-a-kind encaustic monotype. Thin layers of encaustic medium and then encaustic painting to complete the images were added. A finishing touch of oil pigment stick enhances the texture and carving within the painting.
