Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo

In my collection of art, I embarked on a journey of reimagination, taking simple but iconic characters as my starting point and then setting them adrift in a sea of "What if" questions. My process was far from linear; each character underwent numerous iterations as they took the reins, ultimately guiding the narrative in unexpected directions. Through many layers of paint, this cast of characters tried on various "costumes" of resilience, tenderness, and humor, ultimately settling into versions of themselves that felt authentic and compelling. I’m delighted to present these reimagined heroines and to learn about their next chapters as they make their way out into the world.
 
Creating "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo":

The Fairy Godmother is often celebrated for her pivotal role in granting wishes and bringing about "happily ever after" endings. But what happens to her after the curtains close on the fairy tale? One can't help but wonder if the act of conjuring hope and magical splendor, even for the most deserving of recipients, is draining. Perhaps it's not just physically exhausting but emotionally taxing as well. Does she ever get a moment to sit down and relax at the end of the night, or does she collapse into an exhausted sleep only to awaken and perform the magic all over again the next day?

Caregivers of all kinds can relate to the plight of this sweet soul—the honor and joy of being the bearer of magic, but also the weariness that comes with the responsibility. The enchanting charm of "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" may exude whimsy and wonder, yet beneath its surface lies an untold tale of hard work, dedication, and service to others.
