Art has the power to make us pause, take a breath, and feel something deep within us. This is exactly what artist Rebecca Berman aims to do with her work. Her pieces invite us to take a moment out of our busy lives and reconnect with the emotions that often get buried beneath the daily grind. For Rebecca, creating art is like pulling over to a scenic rest stop along a busy five-lane highway—it’s a chance to stretch, relax, and truly take in the world around her.

Rebecca’s artistic journey has been anything but straightforward. Despite always being creative, she didn’t identify as an artist until later in life. Her path to art wasn’t effortless, it was filled with trials and errors, but the challenge is what makes her work resonate. She admits to agonizing over decisions, wrestling with her paintings, and even ending up with paint in her hair. Yet, it’s all worth it when she finds that “sweet spot,” creating characters that feel both unique and familiar at the same time.

“My hope is that when others view my work, they too can experience a moment of pause, a spark of emotion, and the underlying current of connection.”

Rebecca’s background in healthcare, psychology, and education has influenced her art, bringing a focus on emotional connections. Her fantastical characters might have an otherworldly look, but they are deeply rooted in her own experiences. Through her art, Rebecca explores the connections between people, creating beings that invite engagement and spark a sense of recognition in those who view them.

Rebecca is technically self-taught, but she credits her success to the support and guidance she’s received from mentors, coaches, and peers along the way. Her art is not just about creating something beautiful. It’s about finding and using her unique voice to tell stories that connect with others on a deeper level.

Rebecca’s latest collection of original pieces will be unveiled at our next virtual art show “An Unexpected Twist“, which opens on Wednesday, May 29th at 10am MT. The show will close on Friday, May 31st at 6pm MT. Be sure to create your free Collector Account early so you are prepared for when the show opens!
