Lisbeth Cort’s journey into art didn’t begin until later in life, but it has become an essential part of her daily routine. From her beautiful studio on a hill in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she creates vibrant paintings that are full of rich details and saturated colors. Her work, influenced by the high desert landscape and centuries-old adobe buildings, brings a sense of joy and playfulness to every piece.
“I wake up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning the day a little difficult.” —E.B. White
Originally a nonprofit leader in historic preservation, Lisbeth discovered her love for sketching in 2010 through the Urban Sketchers movement. What began as filling travel sketchbooks with ink and watercolor has since grown into a diverse artistic practice that includes watercolor, acrylics, pastels, and collage. Her paintings are known for their lively patterns and vibrant layering of colors.
In addition to her fine art, Lisbeth’s paintings are the inspiration for popular artisan goods like cards, enamel pins, and prints that are sold in museum shops and stores throughout the Southwest. Her goal is simple: to bring a smile to people’s faces, especially in tough times. As Lisbeth says, her art has been described as “capturing laughter,” a compliment she treasures.
Whether she’s working on a new collage or experimenting in her sketchbook, Lisbeth’s work is all about sharing joy through art.
Her latest collection of original pieces will be unveiled at our next virtual art show “Fancy That“, which opens on November 14th at 10am MST. The show will close on November 16th at 4pm MST. Be sure to create your free Collector Account early so you are prepared for the show open!
