Johanna Mueller is an accomplished printmaker and artist whose work blends personal narratives with mythical symbolism, often expressed through animal forms. By focusing on animals, Johanna explores universal themes of the human experience, presenting creatures that transcend race, religion, and gender. Her compositions invite viewers to engage with shared histories, where animals act as symbolic storytellers, capturing the complexities of life.

Based in Greeley, Colorado, Johanna co-owns Wonderhand Studios, a cooperative printmaking space, where she continues to develop her art and teach. She earned her BFA from The Metropolitan University of Denver and later pursued an MFA in printmaking from George Mason University in Virginia. Throughout her career, she has been awarded numerous artist residencies, including the prestigious Laila Twigg Smith Artist Residency in Kona, Hawaii, and the Brush Creek Artist Residency in Wyoming.

Johanna’s intricate engravings, which often feature animals within animals, aim to evoke a sense of wonder in viewers. Her work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States and is part of private and public collections worldwide. She is represented by Kuehl Fine Art in Trinidad, Colorado, and Keep Contemporary Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In addition to creating her own art, Johanna is dedicated to fostering creativity in others. Through her studio and workshops, she shares her passion for printmaking with fellow artists, continuing to contribute to the printmaking community in profound and meaningful ways.
