Elise DiGiuseppe is a painter whose work is deeply influenced by the natural and built environments around her. Working in a variety of media—oil, acrylics, cold wax, and mixed media—her art captures elements of the Pacific Northwest’s landscapes, climate changes, and the intricacies of gardening. For Elise, painting is not just about creating images but a process of exploration, where each piece evolves as she works.

“My backyard studio, a converted tool shed, is tiny and invariably cluttered. And there’s no place I’d rather be.”

A keen gardener, Elise often integrates botanical themes into her art, reflecting both the beauty and challenges of nature. Her garden is a source of inspiration, but it also reminds her of the ongoing environmental shifts that affect the plants she cares for. These concerns about climate change and the fragile balance of nature seep into her abstract works, which combine the organic with the built environments.

Elise’s art is process-driven, allowing her to discover where each piece will take her as she creates it. She blends elements of both suburban life and the energy of urban spaces, having lived in cities like New York and Seattle. Her work invites viewers to contemplate the interplay between nature and human-made environments.

With a background in both art and librarianship, Elise returned to painting in 2018 after a 32-year career as a librarian. Now, her daily art practice allows her to continually explore and grow as an artist, sharing her unique perspective through her evolving body of work.

Her latest collection of original pieces will be unveiled at our next virtual art show “Fancy That“, which opens on November 14th at 10am MST. The show will close on November 16th at 4pm MST. Be sure to create your free Collector Account early so you are prepared for the show open!
