Minnesota-based artist Bryan Holland creates layered oil paintings that blend realistic techniques with collage and design elements. His work often includes text, patterns, and decorative motifs, producing a striking visual and thematic tension. Despite his dislike for cold weather, Bryan’s creativity thrives year-round in his Minnesota studio, where he continues to push the boundaries of his art.

“Taken as a whole or viewed individually, Holland’s work creates a dense tapestry of cultural associations that reveal a deep interest in commercial art of both the past and present.”

With an MFA in painting from the University of South Dakota and a background in graphic design from Alexandria Technical and Community College, Bryan brings a unique mix of experiences to his work. His education and varied career, including roles as a college professor and gallery owner, have helped shape his distinctive style, which balances traditional painting with modern experimentation.

In addition to his artistic practice, Bryan is deeply involved in his local art community. He founded and organizes an annual studio crawl event and serves on the board of a local artist alliance. His work has been featured in numerous solo and juried exhibitions across the country, as well as in publications like New American Paintings, Spectrum Fantastic Art, and Hi-Fructose.

Bryan’s paintings are held in private collections both in the U.S. and internationally, reflecting the broad appeal and impact of his work.

His latest collection of original pieces will be unveiled at our next virtual art show “Fancy That“, which opens on November 14th at 10am MST. The show will close on November 16th at 4pm MST. Be sure to create your free Collector Account early so you are prepared for the show open!
