Bobbi Baugh’s journey as an artist began in the world of commercial printing, but her passion for creativity ultimately led her to become a full-time studio artist. In her studio, she embraces the freedom to choose her projects and processes, blending discipline with joy as she creates work that invites viewers to look beyond the surface.
“What amazing patterns! That’s what I say to myself when I look at the natural world. Drawn first to the intricacy of a simple form like a leaf, I then begin to mix and match that form with others: same shape different size, new shape, new color. The works I’ve created for “Fancy That” are explorations of these patterns and combinations.”
Bobbi’s art reflects her personal evolution. Once someone who rarely questioned her surroundings, she now explores the layers of both the external world and her inner experiences. Her fascination lies in uncovering what is often hidden, whether it’s through the stories of people or the intricate details of nature.
When depicting people, Bobbi takes on the role of storyteller, weaving in elements of dreams, memories, and emotional states. In her work focused on the natural world, she becomes an archaeologist, digging beneath the surface to reveal unseen connections and truths.
Utilizing mixed media techniques, Bobbi brings her visions to life through monoprinting and collage, creating rich textures and layers that invite deeper exploration. She encourages viewers to join her on this journey of discovery, promising that together, they might learn to see the world in new and profound ways.
