Meet Kim Harrell, a master silversmith and jewelry designer with a philosophy that in design, ‘less is more.’ Originally from Denver, Colorado, Kim spent 14 years abroad in London, honing her skills and mastering her craft. Kim has studied at the Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, earning a degree in Silversmithing, Jewelry, and Allied Crafts. Her background, coupled with her experiences abroad, has shaped Kim’s approach to creating elegant and minimalist pieces that carry with them an unmistakable feeling of her own unique style.

Kim’s work emphasizes clean lines, distinctive textures, and a celebration of the materials she uses. She works with a variety of precious metals, occasionally incorporating other materials, to create jewelry, hollowware, and object d’art. Her focus on line, form, and texture brings a refined simplicity to her designs, allowing the inherent beauty of the materials themselves to shine through.

“I want the viewer to experience a sense of wonder at the elegant beauty of the materials as expressed through the creation of a new distinctive object.”

Now residing in Aurora, Colorado, Kim runs a professional studio where she designs and makes her pieces full-time. She also shares her expertise by teaching at The Art Students League of Denver and offering private instruction in her studio. Kim’s work has been included in private and corporate collections across the USA and Europe, as well as the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art in Denver.

Kim’s artistry is a reflection of her unique perspective on the world. She designs with intention, each time manipulating and combining materials to create something entirely new. Her emphasis on simplicity is evident in every piece. Kim’s jewelry and the silverware she also creates are not just functional objects, but pieces of usable art that inspire contemplation.

Kim’s latest collection of original pieces will be unveiled at our next virtual art show “An Unexpected Twist“, which opens on Wednesday, May 29th at 10am MT. The show will close on Friday, May 31st at 6pm MT. Be sure to create your free Collector Account early so you are prepared for the show open!
