Collage as a medium can be quite fickle and at times unpredictable. By combining and mixing images, colors and shapes, the unexpected is discovered.

About Me

My work is a reflection and reinterpretation of pop culture from the 1950's, 60's, and 70's combined with a reimagined idea of the future. For my mixed media paintings, I integrate magazine cut-outs with water-based paints to create 'other worldly' landscapes. For my collage series, I combine vintage magazine cut-outs on paper to create surreal, dreamy vignettes. These works are meant to reveal a deeper underlying psychological theme, feeling, or political statement that transcends time.

As a Denver based artist with a background in arts administration, I have worked for the last 18 years as a freelance professional artist. After receiving a BFA with a concentration in painting from Colorado State University, I relocated to Denver in 2003 to further grow my art career. My work has been included in numerous exhibitions around the US, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Rhode Island, and Washington. Today, I continue to push my artistic boundaries and explore new creative processes all from my at home studio in Denver.

Examples of My Work

Fun Facts

Music: My husband and I have a creative side project called "Hot Box Paradise", as a DJ duo we spin a wide and eclectic range of vinyl records. Everything from 50's exotica to 90's house music.
Good Luck: I have a knack at winning contests, particularly radio contests. My biggest prize to date was winning a two night stay in Breckenridge, plus two ski lift tickets, lodging, and dinner for two.
Sports: My grandparents introduced me to golf at the age of 5. I played in a couple junior tournaments and even won a few trophies. Although I don't play a lot today, I still enjoy the game and own a set of clubs..
Foodie: I love to explore all cultures through the world of food and drink. I especially love to cook! Cooking is a lot like collage making, combining unexpected flavors with staple ingredients.
Famous Encounter: In 2008 I met Robert Plant, from Led Zepplin at a Boulder Farmers Market. He was casually walking a cruiser bike next to me and I said "Hey, nice bike" at which he placed his finger over his mouth and whispered "Thank you".

More About Me

What do you wish you could tell your younger artist self?

You've got this! You are and will always be an artist, even when you stop creating and question yourself. Feel good, feel confident and enjoy the ride!

What is your hidden talent or claim to fame?

I have an inherent ability to recite song lyrics verbatim. Some friends have called me "Juke Box". I always have a song or two swimming around in my head and will often dream in music.

What other non-artist jobs have you had?

I have had the fortune of having a lot of art related jobs, but my very first job (non art related) was McDonalds at age 16. I started on the grill and worked my way up to the cash register. To this day I know how a burger is made from the grill to the bag.
