My paintings project feelings of calmness, peacefulness, and serenity which hopefully cause the viewer to pause, look, and focus on the intimacy and complexity within the moments of everyday life.
About Me
As a New Englander and avid colorist, my color palette has developed and evolved from strong seasonal and coastal influences offering a distinctive blend of hues and range of moods. Drawing from multiple art residencies in Provincetown, my eye incorporates environmental nuances inviting and transporting the viewer into my world. Whether through interior, landscape, figurative, or still life portraits, I aim to be somewhat whimsical yet serious combining modern and traditional approaches, with a personal twist, rendering simple and quiet images that belie lives and moments that are never quite still. Much of my work captures intimate interior scenes surrounded by picturesque landscapes and coastal vistas -- evoking curiosity and subtle innuendo through a downward perspective, lush colors, and whispers of filtered light. I enjoy the use of both large and small canvases. These influences and techniques combined with a lifelong passion result in my interpretation and expression of life's still and treasured moments.

More About Me
What other non-artist jobs have you had?
Through high school and college, I life-guarded and taught swimming lessons. I think I learned my love of teaching painting back then. I was delighted to see the progression of blowing bubbles to swimming the length of the pool!
What inspires you?
The simple answer is light and shadow, particularly when it includes the psychology of what is behind the light and shadow. For example, my Bedroom Series, which I call “bedscapes”, focuses on authenticity which encompasses being vulnerable. This series was born out of a succession of transformative life events. I discovered the path to healing was learning to be vulnerable. There are so many crosscurrents within each bedscape involving angst, hopes, passion, dreams, rawness, and relaxation which begin and end the day in this intimate and private environment.
