Meet Lisa…

I approach my imagery with the same curiosity I have for any new place, wondering what might happen next. This helps me to surrender authority. I’ve never been able to completely predict the behavior of my materials, which means I’m doomed to continually re-appreciate the innate character of each medium. The figurative imagery that I work with comes about as I sift through stacks of daily impressions in my head. My attention is hijacked by the magic in commonplace experiences, and the hope in desperate moments.

As I work, something new steps forward that synthesizes my thoughts and obsessions. Multiple narratives unfold, often reflecting on animals – human and non-human. Elements within these open-ended stories stray toward the surreal, the abstract, and places that can only be visited in the heart.
