Artist Notes: Inspired by the master of passion, pattern, and color, Gustav Klimt, this cloisonné interpretation of The Kiss captures movement and texture through fine silver wires that define each detail. Layers of enamel bring forth the rich, vibrant colors, echoing the depth and emotion of the original work.

The piece is set in a sterling silver setting that continues the story, with overlapping layers of textured metal adding dimension. Delicate pierced flowers and vines on the back of the setting offer subtle glimpses of the enamel beneath, hinting at the intricate world within.

Materials: Vitreous enamel, fine silver, sterling silver
Size: 1.5″ wide x 2.5″ tall on an 18-inch sterling silver ball chain

Cloisonné is a technique in which fine silver or gold wires are applied to the metal surface to form small cells that are then filled with layers of enamel (ground glass). Each piece is fired repeatedly — often fifteen or more times — allowing color, depth, and surface to develop.
