Meet Kaz...

"Bringing the fun to your style with colour popping palettes and a signature inlay of mismatching spotty and stripy designs!"

Hiya I'm Kaz!

I design and create my jewellery in my studio in Coburg House, Leith, Edinburgh.

Mainly working with resin, I produce pieces by combining a bold colour palette with pattern.

Colour is an essential element in my work. Working with resin, I create my own colour palettes by mixing pigments. Inlaying my signature spotty and stripy designs onto the surface.

I want the wearer to enjoy the jewellery and appreciate the little extra details incorporated. Some pieces are reversible for an added surprise. Bangles have magnets set within, which allows them to stick together in sets, and mis-matching is another strong design element of my jewellery, which adds to the fun but stylish feel of the pieces.

I studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1997 to 2002, where I gained a First Class BA(Hons) Jewellery and a PG(Dip) Jewellery.

I have exhibited internationally, taken part in various shows, and worked to commission.

Fun Facts

I'm obsessed with cats! I have 3...I would have more but there's not enough room in the flat! If something has a cat on it, I want it!

My favourite colour is pink (no surprises there!)

I'm pretty sure I couldn't live with out cheese...

I ran a half marathon a couple of years ago. I wouldn’t do it again! I don't understand people who run whole marathons...

More About Me

How do you hope people feel when they engage with your art?

I'd like to hope that people feel uplifted when engaging with my jewellery. It's playful and fun but not childish, but it will make you smile.

When they wear my jewellery, I want them to feel confident and show their personality by wearing something unique, bold and handmade.

What is your favorite part of the creative process and why?

I most enjoy the part where all the resin elements of the piece are made and sanded super smooth (basically when all the hard work is done!), and I start to layer or attach the pieces together. This is my favourite part as it's when I feel the pieces become their own little sculptures and have lives of their own.

Tell us about your art studio.

I absolutely LOVE my studio and feel so lucky to have it. I've been in the same studios since I graduated, but in that time, they have grown and evolved so much.

They have changed from one floor of very shabby studio spaces into a four floor complex of studios with our own gallery and shop space, and we have a great community here too. Bonus, I have shared my studio space with my best friend, Donna Barry, who is also a jewellery designer, the whole time!
