Meet Jennifer...

"I hope when someone sees my art, they want more, but I also hope it inspires them to create something of their own."

I am a graphic designer and abstract encaustic artist living in Colorado with my dog Rosie. When I’m not in the studio, I'm most likely in the garden. Gardening isn’t just a passion—it’s an extension of my creative process. Many of the plants I grow ultimately become materials or references within my work.

My encaustic mixed-media work explores the contrast and connection between natural elements and man-made objects. Memories and personal experiences become starting points, transforming into new ideas. The nature of encaustic—its fluid layers, shifting colors, and unexpected textures—offers a continual lesson in patience, curiosity, surrender, and acceptance.

Fun Facts

After a lifetime of living with four very large dogs, I fell head over heels for 15 lbs. of wagging, twirling, furry happiness named Rosie. I didn't see that coming!

Though a very timid traveler, I've discovered that I love to visit other countries—I'm up to six and counting.

I love antique furniture (100 years old+). To me, it represents the epitome of recycle/reuse—You simply can’t beat the quality, craftsmanship, or beauty of furniture that was built with love to last for generations.

I'd live in a hoodie and sneakers every day, if I could. Though come to think of it, I pretty much do.

Quality chocolate is my food of choice. I mean what would life be without it?

More About Me

Why do you create?

I can’t not create. It’s not a choice so much as a necessity. Making things is how I process the world, how I pay attention, and how I understand my place in it. It’s at the core of who I am.

When you’re not making art, what sparks your creativity or joy?

Gardening. Like art, it’s a creative act that brings me joy the same way art does: working with materials, embracing unpredictability, and allowing things to evolve over time. It keeps me connected to process rather than outcome.

What, if anything, is playing in the background while you create?

A multitude of podcasts, such as 99% Invisible, Design Matters, and Heavyweight, to name a few. I also mix things up with audiobooks (cozy English mysteries are a favorite) or a variety of music, depending on my mood.
